Finis!

Summer is over and you would think that things have slowed down! Nope, after the Annual meeting, things really kicked into high gear! VBS all week, company from out of town, my son going off to camp, Fathers Day and the best thing of all! The Open House was last Thursday for our "rehab" house!
I give the house about 1-2 weeks and I am sure it will be sold! If you would like to look at it and take a "virtual tour" here is the link!

This house has come a looooong way from where we started. In fact, the first time my hubby and his partner showed me the house I thought, "OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODNESS!" and thru a fake smile, I made myself say, "Wow, it's great isn't it?" .

Anyway, now we have started on another house down the street , but it won't be anything like this first house. It should be a tater. I do have before pics of this next house but will show you those when the house is finished. HAH! I know, I'm mean. LOL

Now, you'll be happy to know that I finally finished hubby's "scout" socks! They came out fabulously (IF I do say so myself) and I have started a new pair for myself. These are a "not-so-traditional", red, white and blue self striping yarn. When I get a bit further along I'll take a pic. For now though I am taking a break and working on a chenile scarf. Wal-Mart has a CLEARANCE bin in the yarn department. So, this $5.17 a skein Lion brand yarn was marked down to $3.00 a skein. Yeah, I admit it, I am weak; I bought 6 skeins of the stuff!

Well, I have a busy day ahead so I need to go. That, and my oldest son is away at summer camp and I am going buggy without him. *sigh*

Momma Has a NewToy!

Wooooo Hooooo! I have a new ball winder! Every good knitter has a yarn ball winder in their repitoire of knitting goodies. I have been wanting one of these baby's for years, and I am serious about that. My mother had one and oh I was always so envious. Well, this is my much belated Mother's Day gift from hubby. I have been turning every skein of yarn I have into neatly wrapped balls of yarn. I am blissfully happy.

I am oh-so-close, to being done with hubby's socks. I am hoping to have them done , like within the next day or 2. He is around the corner at camp and I would love to be able to take the finished socks to him, if I just had some red yarn. See, regulation scout socks have a thin band of red around the top. It would be way cool if I had some, but, oh well.

Along with my new ball winder, I also got a new skein of sock yarn. It is self striping sock yarn in a not so traditional red, white & blue. I actually almost purchased this yarn months ago, but had gone with another color. Those socks ended up being given to my youngest daughter. SO, when hubby brought this yarn home...I was soooooooooo excited! I can't wait to get started.

It's sunday and I am going to cat nap on the couch for a while (It's what I do almost every sunday) LOL so I will try and write tomorrow.

Bye for now!

I hate my job, I hate my job, I hate my job, I hate my job...

Whew! We've gotten the school thing behind us and now I am working on the books for the neighborhood association's annual meeting. I am so ready to be done with it and move on. I have concluded that I am absolutely Quickbooks illiterate. I guess, it's one of those things where the person who sets it up is really the person who knows what's going on. There are some things I have learned about doing this.

1. If you were not the one to input all of the data and set it up for the business, you screw it up royally.

2. No, Quickbooks is not easy.

3. Unless you are a company, say for example, like a construction company or someone that does contracts and credit; using QB for a neighborhood association that is relatively small is kind of like squirrel hunting with a bazooka.

4. If you are not a trained professional book keeper, become one.

5. The accountant usually only wants the following items anyway: the fiscal year's bank statements and your general ledger.

6. The neighborhood association only want to know; how much money did we spend this month/year?, who owes us money?, how much money is in savings/checking? and who owns lot# 213? So, why bother with the rest of the hoopla that comes with the QB program?

7. If you ever have to turn that bad boy over to someone else, woe unto them, they'll have bruising on their foreheads too.

8. Know when to admit defeat, have the accountant set up a simple Spread sheet and be done with it.

9. They don't pay enough, that is why they have shmuck like me working for scraps.

10. I hate QB an my job!

Yesterday, the accountant called saying they couldn't figure out some things and I am thinking..."Oh great, they'll think I have been embezelling from the neighborhood assoc. ACK!" but at this point I think what they are thinking, "Sheesh, what an idiot....who hired this woman anyway?"

Lord, help me is all I have to say. Since the children don't need my measley income for schooling anymore, hubby has given me permission to quit. I still have obligations though. First, is to set up and make easier the book keeping for anyone who takes over the job. Second, is to make sure the meeting goes well next weekend. Third, is to update all and any lot and ownership info. That is that then. On the other hand, if I simplify the job to that extent, then suffice it to say, that I really won't have the stress and worry of before. They only recently gave me a quarterly gas allowance. That is cool, I can just put the gas money back into our personal account and hubby said the $200.00 cash was mine, ALL MINE! Soooooooo, I will have to think on that for a while. (As soon as lunch is over, I will call the accountant and see what's up with the compilation. *sigh* bleck!

ANYWAY, things have been busy but really great for the kids and I so far this summer. We have made tie dye t-shirts (that was so fun and way cool)! The boys and I rearranged their rooms and refinished a bookcase. Then my youngest daughter and I refinished a dresser (one I got for free someone at church and it was ugly!)for her room. The kids have been keeping the house so nice and clean and not grumbled about helping with the housework. They have been going to their friends house, bike riding, playing in the garden hose, picnics and watching TV.

I am still working on hubby's socks...will they ever be done??? *sniff* I can't wait to be able sit and knit! I need some more sock yarn too. I will have to go yarn shopping on line. I have some sites cached on my favorites...must...resist...temptation...must work...must not get distracted...by yarn!

It looks like the TV is dead, playing taps. It was old, I knew it was just a matter of time. So, now, we are all going into withdrawl. I NEED my HGTV!!! The kids are going nuts not at least being able to watch the DVD or VCR.

Well, my oldest son is vulturing me, circling around in want of some "computer Time", so I will let him get on for a while before he leaves this weekend for Scout's NYLT training, he will be on staff and gone for a week. It's not all that bad, he'll just be up the road and around the corner about 7 minutes at the local BSA camp. LOL! So, I can hear it now, "Mom, I forgot my... or I need you to bring me..." I am sure hubby will be doing the same as well!

Have a great day!
