Hey everyone,
I have an update on the alcoholic and the house fire.
Well, the word is, investigators did some more looking and found evidence of accelerants.
Paint thinner had been poured on the living room floor and ignited.
(traces of the chemical, deep pitted marks in the slab of extreme isolated heat and the simple fact that he had no smoke inhalation or symptoms of someone "caught" in a house fire.)
I don't know if he could argue that the thinner was there because of remodeling they were doing at the time.
His wife said that none of the paints or chemicals were in the main house but ALL of it was out in the garage.
I don't think he'll be able to argue, because it was so obvious that he was not in the house when he said he was.
So, he will be sitting in jail for a while longer on arson charges.
Gosh, I hope this does not affect his poor wife's ability to get insurance money and get on with her life.
All of their dogs were running around the neighborhood loose and I threatened to call animal control, but the detectives called.
The dogs kept coming around barking and being a problem where they were trying to investigate.
Animal control was out right away and picked them up.
(It would have taken them 2 days if I had called.)
These were the same dogs that the alcoholic encouraged to chase my son up onto our porch.
I'll keep everyone posted on what's going on.
